| I note you sell two cartridges that look exactly the same, what is the difference between the Doulton Supercarb and the Doulton Ultracarb |
| They both do look the same, but the Ultracarb removes heavy metals such as lead, whereas the Supercarb doesn't. |
| Which compatible cartridge do you recommend that is as good or better than the original Franke cartridge |
| We always recommend the Doulton Ultracarb
as a direct replacement for the original Franke cartridge. We actually consider the Doulton to be the better cartridge. Please contact us for further details. |
| What is the difference between the Doulton Ultracarb
compatible filter cartridge and the original Franke cartridge. |
| Basically for use in the UK there is no difference whatsoever, apart from the price, for sale in the United States however the Franke version does not have NSF certification for the States of California, Massachusetts, Iowa
and Wisconsin, contact us for further details. |
| I note on the Trilflow Concepts WebSite they are suggesting that fitting a non Franke Cartridge in my Franke Triflow will affect the guarantee on the Franke Triflow System |
| Not sure how fitting a Doulton Cartridge could affect the guarantee on your tap or your Housing! If you fit a Doulton Cartridge and have any guarantee problems with your tap or housing please do not hesitate to contact us, we are a premier Franke dealer and should be able to sort out most problems with your Franke System. |
| I am fed up with the nozzle of my tap getting clogged up with limescale, can I fit a De-Alk cartridge into my Franke Triflow system to eliminate or reduce Limescale, will it do the job, and will the system still have all of the filtration properties of the Franke and Doulton Cartridges. |
| You can fit a De-Alk cartridge into your Franke System, however, you will lose all of the filtration benefits. We would advise using an additional housing with a specialised limescale reducing cartridge in it as a better option, please contact us for further details. |
| Can I fit a specialised cartridge into my Franke Triflow system to eliminate or reduce Flouride, and will it do the job. |
| There isn't a cartridge available that fits the Franke Housing, it wouldn't be big enough anyway if there was, you would need to fit an additional filter housing into your system with a specialised Flouride removal cartridge in it, please contact us for further details. |
| Can I fit a specialised cartridge into my Franke Triflow system to eliminate or reduce Nitrates, and will it do the job. |
| There isn't a cartridge available that fits the Franke Housing, it wouldn't be big enough anyway if there was, you would need to fit an additional filter housing into your system with a specialised Nitrate removal cartridge in it, please contact us for further details. |
| There are other brands of Filter Cartridges on the market that claim to be suitable for the Franke Triflow, why should I choose the Doulton Brand |
| Doulton are the World leaders in water filtration products, with over 150 years
continuous manufacturing experience. This is not a new product on the market with no history, it is a brand name you can trust, it is sold in over 100 countries around the globe. |

| I have just moved into a house which has a Franke Triflow System, I have no details with it, how often should I change the cartridge. |
| You should change the cartridge every 6 months,
if you are not sure how long the existing cartridge has been installed you would be advised to change it and note the date for future reference. |
| I am sometimes away for up to 3 months at a time and the Franke filter tap is not being used, do I still have to change the cartridge after a six month period, including the unused period........... |
| Our advice would be to remove the cartridge and let it dry out whilst you are away, on your return re-fit the cartridge back into the housing for the remainder of the six month term. |
| I have recently purchased a Franke Triflow System using the cartridge that came with it, I am very disappointed with the results, I upgraded from a Jug filter because it was inconvenient but now I am getting hardwater scum on my tea...... |
| It is a fact that there isn't a single cartridge on the market that will give the filtration results of the Franke and the Doulton Supercarb/Ultracarb cartridges, and also remove Limescale, you will need to fit another housing with a specialist limescale reducing cartridge in it to do this job. Please contact us for further details. |
| Will the Franke Triflow System using an original Franke cartridge or the Doulton equivalent Cartridge remove scum from my cup of tea. |
| The honest answer is no, it will not, it is not designed to do so, the original Franke cartridge and the Doulton Supercarb/Ultracarb cartridges are filter cartridges, designed to remove bacteria etc. not Limescale, contact us for further details to overcome this problem. |
| I have a water softener which uses salt, can the Franke Triflow using a Doulton Cartridge filter this water for drinking. |
| Water softened by using Salt should not be used as drinking water, you should have a separate supply for drinking. |
| Can I extend the life of my cartridges by cleaning them under the tap with an old toothbrush. |
| You may increase the flow by doing this, but you should still change the cartridge after six months. |
| Two months ago I purchased a Doulton Ultracarb from you, I have noticed the flow from my filter tap has reduced considerably, does this mean I have to buy another cartridge already. |
| No, you don't need to change your cartridge yet, but you need to take out the cartridge from the housing and gently clean it using an old tooth brush. |
| Why is my cartridge blocking up, is it not doing it's job properly. |
| If your cartridge is blocking up and reducing the flow, it is doing it's job by stopping dirt, sediment and rust etc. from entering your drinking water. |
| Every time I change my filter cartridge I get a leak from the joint on the Plastic Housing, the White bottom bit never seems to seal properly to the Black top, what am I doing wrong. |
| This is a common question, we are asked it practically every day, the cause of the problem is that you are trying to tighten a dry housing bottom to a dry rubber seal in the Housing cap, and you are not able to tighten the housing sufficiently to seal it. The solution is to smear a small amount of Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly around the rubber "O" ring in the Black cap, this will enable the two parts to slide together easier, failing this we can supply replacement rubber "O" rings - please ring for details. |
| Why are the Franke Filters so expensive compared to the Doulton ones you are selling,
are the Doulton Cartridges cheap imports. |
| A good question, but one that should be directed to Triflow Concepts who retail the Franke filters.
The Doulton Cartridges are made in the UK and have Worldwide NSF approval. |
